About the Nyborg Lab
The Nyborg Laboratory is located on the main Colorado State University campus in Fort Collins, Colorado. We are located on the second floor of the Molecular and Radiological Biosciences building (MRB).
The spacious laboratory (1700 sq ft) is surrounded by natural courtyards and looks out onto a the beautiful front range of the Rocky Mountains. It is located in the modern MRB building which houses state of the art equipment for biochemical and biophysical research.
The laboratory is composed of a main research facility and two additional laboratories for equipment and specialized research. The main laboratory has an adjacent computer room with personal computers (both Mac and IBM compatible), and a large biosafety level 2+ tissue culture facility. We have complete facilities for the expression of recombinant proteins in E. coli and Baculovirus / insect cell culture.
The laboratory is fully equipped for molecular biology and protein purification, including a real-time PCR machine and two state-of-the-art FPLC systems. A complete protein expression and purification laboratory, run by a full-time director, is available within the department.
The Nyborg Laboratory is adjacent to departmental equipment such as a Phosphor Imager (Amersham Biosciences), Odyssey infrared imaging system (for western blot analysis and in-cell imaging), and Fluorescence Microscopy/ Image Analysis Center. The department also houses an X-ray diffraction facility, a crystallization room, and computational graphics cluster. The department also supports a wide range of biophysical equipment from Beckman XLI and XLA analytical ultra centrifuges to a circular dichroic spectrophotometer.
The Nyborg Laboratory is one of four laboratories awarded a $1,200,000 grant from the W.M. Keck Foundation. In addition to the Keck Foundation support, the lab is supported by three grants from the National Institutes of Health.
